Mercedes S63 AMG ECU Tuning by VR Tuned

Although a lot of enthusiasts prefer small coupes such as the BRZ or M3, there are a lot of people out there who like big body coupes. With that larger body, you are gaining a huge amount of weight, but you’re also gaining a much better interior and room for a larger engine. The S63 AMG is a perfect example of this. It’s huge and comfortable, but underneath that long hood is a powerful twin-turbo V8 producing 585 horsepower and 664 ft-lbs. Like many enthusiasts, even S63 AMG owners eventually want more power.

Thanks to the turbocharged nature of the S63 AMG, getting more power from it isn’t too hard. Mercedes left a decent amount of performance on the table, which can easily be extracted with an ECU tune. With an ECU tune, parameters such as target boost, ignition timing, air/fuel ratio, shift points, throttle limiters, rev-limiters, and more are altered. By adjusting those parameters, you can increase power without modifying anything else on the car, making the car feel OEM but with more power.

For the S63 specifically, large torque gains can be found. This is mostly due to Mercedes using rather small turbochargers on the S63 AMG. The smaller turbos spool up faster and produce tons of low-end power, but their small size limits the top end gains.
