Porsche 996 Turbo Launch Control Released by VRTuned VRTuned.com May 19, 2010 Company News, Product Info, Tuning Tech 5 Comments VRTuned is proud to offer their Launch Control software for the Porsche 996 Turbo vehicles. This Launch Control will work on any K16, K24 X50 or GT2, as well as custom turbo applications. The Launch Control is exclusively for VRTuned customers as an add on to our ECU Flashing. This is a great modification for those drag racing, and can add substantial improvements to your 1/4 mile times. So what is Launch Control? Typically, launch control is used in race cars to help take off fast and efficiently at the start of a race. You might see this commonly used in Rally cars at the beginning of each stage. Many Launch Control is controlled by the computers ECU to a set RPM point and then puts load on the engine. This causes the car to build boost pressure at a stand still to reduce the lag of a normal launch. The 996 Turbo Launch Control builds 0.2Bar or 3psi of boost. This feature eliminates the possibility of dropping the clutch at to high of an rpm or over revving the car at launch. Because there is such a small threshold of action to smoothly deliver acceleration from a stand still on high horsepower cars, launch control has been created. 5 Responses Brett Henson June 1, 2010 Yesterday Dan installed the launch control on my 01 996TT even though he put a 93octane map it was amazing how it just took off like a bat out of hell, easily the best launch I have done since I bought the car.
