Porsche 986 Boxster S 3.2L
Stock Power – 252HP and 225ft/lbs
Tuned Power – 267HP and 241ft/lbs
VRTuned flashes the 986 Boxster S through the OBDII port of the car. With their Flasher Client software, they are reading a full 1mb of the file to completely tune the ECU. Other companies claim to be able to do this, but are only read 128kb and making global changes. The ECU flash will alter your fuel and timing maps to give you a very linear increase over stock. For those worried about check engine lights, there are none! These cars come with 4 catalytic converters and those running an exhaust system usually eliminate the secondary ones before the muffler. If you are running high flow cat headers or a complete straight pipe exhaust systems, VRTuned raises the O2 levels which will remove the possibility of having a CEL from this type of exhaust. The overall improvement of drivability makes the 986 Boxster S even more fun then it was originally.
VRTuned also provides you with your original file. With this original file you can flash your car back to stock at any point. VRTuned can program your vehicle no matter what country you are from or what octane you use. We have different maps for those running 91 octane or 93 octane and higher.
What are the benefits/functions of going with VRTuned compared to the competition?
- VRTuned does not require the removal of your ECU from the car. There is no down time at all.
- Your car can be flashed at your convenience from the comfort of your own garage.
- VRTuned reflashing is done via a Client Cable that is connected to the OBDII port. The customer simply plugs the cable into the car and reads the file with a laptop per the instructions with the cable. Once the file is downloaded, it is emailed to the VRTuned secure server where the file is tuned and then emailed back to the client. The client simply uploads the file and they are done. Total process is about 1 hour.
- Reflashing is done according to the vehicles octane level of pump gas and modifications are taken into account (Intake, Headers, Exhaust) to enhance power gains.

hi
do you have ecu upgrade for 2.7 2004 boxster
if so how much does it cost
and how can i purchase it in australia
Really not much gain to flash a 2.7 Boxster. We can though. $895.
hi
what would the increase be on reflashing 2.7 boxster 2004?
The gain will really be in the lower end throttle response, mid rpm pull. Peak increase will only be gained by the raised rev limiter of 500rpm. Ultimately about 10-15hp.
thats ok & worthwhile
would like to know why no warrantys given
and what could go wrong?pls
regards
eric
also
how much extra torque will be produced?
We dont give a warranty as the files, system, and cables have been proven 1000’s of times. If any issues arise, it is because people do not follow the instructions.
OK
can we do a deal for reduced rate of $550 US dollar
Sorry our prices are firm as we include the cable which is a $100 value and the Durametric function which is a $247 value.
I just flashed the VRTuned tune into my 2004 Boxster S and the difference is night and day better. Far stronger at part throttle and much more throttle responsive. You notice its better all the time. I tune Gen III/IV V8 engines as a business and im impressed with the results. The car climbed up a hill in 6th gear and gained speed from 68 to 72mph on a hill that could only hold at a steady 68mph before the tune.
It has given the type of gain that you notice driving the car all the time.
I have an ’01 std oboxster…you dont think the hp gain is noticeable?
I dont believe so. We will gladly do a flash for you.
I intend to purchase the upgrade for a 2000 Boxster S. I also intend to change later the intake to an EVO system and the exhaust headers to OBX, maybe also the muffler. Do I need to do a reflash after I put on the other mods as the engine parameters will change? Would this be at an additional cost? Is there a different program for 95 (RON) or 98 octane? We have botth available here but the car comes tuned for 98 – which is some 20% more expensive than 95 here…
You dont need to rereflash with those bolt on mods. 98 ron is like 93octane and 95ron is like 91octane. There is more performance with a 98ron file.
Hi. I was wondering if there is an ECU flash for the 986 2.5L?
If not, are you working on one? Is it possible?
Thank you, I look forward to your reply
Hi There, I’m looking at getting the Flash for my ECU for my Porsche Boxster 986 2004, however my question is how does the ECU make the extra power is it from advancing the timing or additional fuel? If so will the fuel consumption increase? Can I still maintain the rev limiter in the software? Or is that standard to have the limiter on the revs removed
Sorry forgot to add its a 3.2S
Just did an exhaust upgrade to my 2000 S (Maxspeed NHD headers, midpipe and exhaust) plus K&N filter. Now getting CEL lights (I can provide specific codes). Does your FLASH take into account upgrades vs reflash of stock?
We sure can. The 2nd 02 sensor limits are raised to prevent this CEL.
I am installing a supercharger kit on my 2001 Boxster s. I am planning on installing larger fuel injectors to provide more fuel, but are you able to tune for the 4.5 psi of boost and add’l fuel/air that is needed?
We cant but I will forward your info over to someone who is more specialized in this custom application.
