Yamaha YXZ1000R ECU Removal for Tuning

If you want to get more performance out of your Yamaha YXZ 1000 R, the best upgrade is an ECU flash.  To flash the ECU on this Yamaha, it needs to be removed from the vehicle.  You can easily access the ECU as we have outlined below.  The ECU is located under the center console panel.  This easily pulls up where it reveals the ECU.  The ECU is made connected with 2 large plugs and under a rubber retaining strap.  Once you remove these, you can pull the ECU out.  These ECUs are made by Mitsubishi which are identified on the top cover.

Once the ECU is removed, you can bring it to our Gilbert, Arizona facility or ship it to us to be tuned.  Tuning changes the throttle response, raises the rev limiter, removes the speed limter, and increase horsepower and torque.  The Yamaha YXZ1000R ECU is not opened to flash it.  This process is done right from the front of the plugs using specialty hardware to read and write.
